Delaware County proclaims March 2025 Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month; board staff outline programs serving about 2,300 people

They said the county agency supports more than 2,300 people with developmental disabilities and highlighted local events and programs planned for March, including a theater arts program for adults with developmental disabilities, coordination sessions about transit access with Delaware County Transit and Morrissey, Learning Aid Ohio educational supports, sensory‑friendly movie showings at the Strand Theater, a DCBDD family forum for families served by the agency, and a webinar with Zipped Brands (a Tennessee company that adapts footwear for accessibility). They also described a new “access to leadership” program intended to prepare people supported by the agency for leadership roles in the community.
Commissioners praised the agency’s leadership and the temporary location being used while a permanent facility is planned over coming years. The board adopted Resolution 25‑165 to recognize March 2025 as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month; the motion carried unanimously (Merrill Aye; Benton Aye; Lewis Aye).
No formal budget change was recorded during the proclamation item; the presentation served to inform commissioners and the public of upcoming DD Awareness Month events and programs.
