County hires Kimley-Horn to design Roleson Road extension; construction expected in 2028

Delaware County on March 3 approved a professional services contract with Kimley-Horn and Associates to prepare engineering and right-of-way plans for the Roleson Road extension in Berlin Township (resolution 25-156).
Rob Riley, chief deputy engineer, described the project as an approximately half-mile extension that will run from the Berlin Farm subdivision (north of Berlin High School) up to Curve Road and ultimately improve connections to State Route 36 and the proposed Berlin Business Park. Riley said the contract will produce final construction and right-of-way plans so the county can acquire property and later advertise for construction; he estimated construction in about 2028.
The board voted to approve the agreement; Barb Lewis and Gary Merrill voted aye.
Riley said the extension is meant to relieve traffic from the growing development north of Berlin Station Road, where he said more than 500 homes are under development. He characterized this professional services agreement as an early step to establish alignment, finalize right-of-way needs and support future construction bidding.
