The Delaware County Board of Commissioners approved Feb. 10 an agreement with Dan Curtis for aviary inspection services and appointed a deputy aviary inspector for 2025.
Board President Barb Lewis briefly explained the recurring need for aviary inspections and said Curtis has done the work for several years.
"As you know, the honeybees are somewhat at risk, and it's an effort made to kind of take an inventory and make sure that these in our county are healthy," Lewis said, explaining the purpose of the annual agreement. Commissioners voted aye to approve the contract.
The agreement is an annual routine to inventory and monitor apiaries in the county; the contract amount and specific terms were not stated in the meeting record.
