Committee forwards CABE-based communicable-disease policy for first reading

The Danbury Board of Education Policy Committee voted to recommend a first reading of policy 5141.22, Communicable and Infectious Disease, using model language from CABE.
Kelly (staff member) described the policy as "pretty short" and noted it is taken from CABE model language. The policy authorizes district staff, in consultation with the district medical advisor and nursing staff, to remove a student from school when there is a serious risk of transmission and to arrange appropriate care and home instruction if needed.
Committee members noted there was little debate on the policy, which updates district language to reflect post-COVID public-health practices. The committee voted to forward the CABE-based policy for a first reading by the full board; the motion carried.
