The Yarmouth Select Board voted unanimously on May 13 to grant an on-premises Section 12 alcohol license to Heavenly Restaurant, 194 Route 28, allowing wine and malt-beverage service for indoor dining and a small enclosed patio.
Owner-manager Le Jae Young told the board she plans evening service and additional hiring; she said all staff will be TIPS-certified and that the restaurant will place a manager outside to supervise the enclosed patio. "My number one priority is also not only for my employees, but also for the community," Young said.
Board members asked about staff training, patio containment and how the restaurant would prevent minors from obtaining alcohol; Young described TIPS training, carding policies and on-site managerial coverage for patio service. The Select Board approved the license with the condition that the licensee meet with the police alcohol-liaison officer prior to beginning alcohol service. The board recorded the approval as unanimous; no individual votes were entered into the meeting minutes beyond the unanimous outcome.
The license approval gives Heavenly Restaurant authority to serve wine and malt beverages during the hours specified in its application (Monday'Saturday 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.), and the board emphasized enforcement of state and town regulations regarding service to minors and intoxicated patrons.
