The Yarmouth Select Board unanimously endorsed Town Administrator Robert Rittenour’s appointment of David Condon as the town’s director of Natural Resources.
Rittenour told the board that Condon has served as acting director and has been with the town since January 2020; earlier roles include harbor master positions and maritime experience. The town charter allows the town administrator to appoint division-head staff but gives the Select Board a 15‑day period in which it may reject an appointment by a four-fifths vote. Rittenour said the 15th day for this appointment is May 17.
Board action: Select Board member Mark moved to endorse the town administrator’s appointment; the motion was seconded, and the vote was unanimous. Condon thanked former directors Bill Benetti and Carl Von Hohen and said he looks forward to advancing the department’s missions and thanked staff and family for their support.
What this means: With board endorsement the appointment stands and Condon will serve as director, subject to the town charter’s timelines. The board did not take separate personnel action; this item recorded an endorsement of the town administrator’s appointment.
