Committee finalizes report layout and plans web supplements, appendices

The Town Meeting Study Committee confirmed plans to publish Version 8 of its report on the committee’s web page and to attach several supplements as appendices, including a narrative survey report and datasets the committee used in analysis.

Committee members described the core report as five pages of recommendations with additional material and appendices bringing the published packet to roughly 16 pages. Eric Moore said the final report, appendices and supplements would live on the committee web page as the central repository for the committee’s work. “The home for the report is gonna be on the committee web page to my understanding,” he said.

Members asked for careful labeling of supplemental materials. Several committee members agreed that comparative transcript analyses and cross‑town timing benchmarks (Longmeadow, North Andover, Andover, Bedford, Acton, Carlisle, Lincoln) are useful reference material but should not be presented as if they were the direct evidentiary basis for the committee’s recommendations. “I wouldn’t associate it with the report at all,” a member said about some comparative timing data; instead the committee agreed to present that work as a supplemental reference on the website.

Planned appendices and supplements listed in the meeting include: the October 24 survey report (Katie’s narrative analysis and dataset), the chair’s reflections and tactical communications recommendations, marketing/communications materials under consideration, and other data visualizations. Committee members asked the chair to compress the document to fit the briefing‑book limits where possible and to finish final edits within two weeks for posting ahead of Town Meeting.

Next steps: the chair will incorporate editorial edits, add explicit language that the nine items are suggested moderator tools, and post the final report plus appendices on the committee web page.
