The University Place School District's Community Facility Advisory Committee recommended renovation or replacement for Sunset Primary, Chambers Primary and significant portions of Curtis High School, Superintendent (name not specified) told the School Board on Tuesday.
The recommendation came during the superintendent's update, when the district leader said the CFAC had completed its last formal meeting and sent its recommendation about future facility renovations and possible replacements. "It's pretty clear from our community group that Sunset Primary, Chambers Primary, and significant portions of Curtis High School are really in need of significant renovation and or replacement," the superintendent said.
The superintendent said the district will provide more information "in the months ahead" and that the CFAC's recommendation will be combined with other collected information before the board considers next steps. No formal motion or vote on capital projects or financing was taken at the meeting.
Board members and district staff did not announce a timeline, cost estimate, or specific funding plan during the public meeting. The superintendent noted that further details would be provided later and that the district will continue to gather information for board consideration.
The matter will return to the board for future discussion once staff compiles the CFAC recommendation with related assessments and possible funding scenarios.
