Walworth County’s finance committee on April 24 approved two consent budget adjustments for Lakeland Health Care Center (LHCC): an increase to the LHCC building renovation project to replace two unused whirlpool tubs and establishment of a new project budget to purchase six on‑unit ice machines.
The motion to approve consent items was made and seconded; committee members asked a brief question about limiting change orders during construction. Mark, a county staff member involved in the LHCC renovation project, explained that while crews were working on a vacant wing they discovered two tubs that needed replacement; those replacements were not included in the current project budget. To avoid delaying the wing’s completion, staff proposed taking funds already set aside in the county’s five‑year capital plan (funding scheduled for 2027 and 2028 tub replacements) and bringing them forward into the current renovation project.
The committee approved both consent items. Supervisors asked staff to limit change orders during construction and said they had discussed the tub replacements with project managers ahead of the meeting.
