Audrey Hendershot and Samara Zayadi said they joined a Broomfield delegation that included Mayor Castriada, several council members, and city staff. The students attended conference sessions, heard a keynote address from the vice president, met Colorado members of Congress at a morning breakfast and saw senators speak at a session, and toured the U.S. Capitol and several national memorials. Samara said she and Audrey also met with Colorado senators and that Senator Michael Bennet offered a thoughtful response when she asked about youth mental‑health initiatives in Colorado.
The students thanked the city for the opportunity; Mayor Castriada and council members praised the delegates’ civic engagement and said the experience reflected positively on Broomfield’s young leaders. No council action was associated with the presentation.
