Applicant Amy Vandeweid, representing Dakota Shores LLC, introduced herself and said she and her husband are lifelong Brookings residents and are excited to run the Wagon Wheel under a five‑year lease with the property owner. The county then opened hearings and recorded no public opposition.
County staff clarified that the local action transfers existing on-sale malt beverage and on-sale liquor licenses to Dakota Shores LLC and that the new off-sale package license is a distinct, newly requested license. The county noted that Brookings County has a limited number of off-sale package liquor licenses and that package-license applicants must meet local criteria. Staff also noted the $500 application fee for the package-license type.
The commission approved the county-level actions and will forward the applications to the South Dakota Department of Revenue, which issues final state licenses. The board recorded motions carried on each item.
