The City and County of Broomfield adopted proclamations recognizing May 2025 as Military Appreciation Month and declaring a week in May as Broomfield Business Week.
For Military Appreciation Month, city staff and the Broomfield Veterans Museum highlighted a calendar of veteran-focused events — including a Memorial Day picnic, a veterans luncheon and a career/resource fair — and noted employment services available through the Broomfield Workforce Center. Lisanna Munoz of Broomfield Human Services summarized partners offering veteran services and said the city has about 3,166 veteran residents, roughly 5.2% of the population. John Pedicolis, president of the Veterans Museum Board, thanked the council and invited the mayor to speak at the Memorial Day picnic.
The Business Week proclamation recognized the role of small businesses in the local economy. Jeff Schreier, the city’s economic development manager, said over 92% of Broomfield businesses have fewer than 50 employees and noted $2 million in investment since 2015 through programs such as enhanced Broomfield entrepreneur microgrants. Schreier described a week of virtual workshops on topics including marketing, apprenticeships and use of AI for small businesses. Local small-business owners including Susanna Wolf of Main Street Pedicabs spoke in support of the recognition.
Council members and public commenters praised the Veterans Museum and encouraged residents to participate in the month’s activities. Public comment included gratitude from residents who called the museum “a gem” and urged broader public attendance at veterans- and business-related events.
