Park County Solid Waste Board approves removal of one assessment, defers Paradox Valley request; minutes approved 4-0

The Park County Solid Waste Board on Tuesday approved the removal of one property assessment and postponed consideration of a second assessment-removal request, and earlier in the meeting the board approved minutes from its Oct. 24 meeting by a 4-0 vote.

Board members voted to remove one assessment for a property where a previously assessed mobile home had been removed; the motion carried 4-0. A separate request from Paradox Valley Properties LLC to remove one assessment was postponed until the applicant or an owner representative could appear and present proof of the property condition.

Board staff and the finance director said assessments are assigned based on Department of Administration records; if a landowner disputes those records the board expects the owner to supply evidence such as photographs or documentation to prove a structure or utility does not exist. The board directed staff to calendar the Paradox Valley request for the next meeting and notify the property owner that proof of the condition will be required.

The earlier motion to approve the Oct. 24 meeting minutes passed on a voice vote recorded as 4-0. No individual vote names were recorded in the minutes excerpted into the transcript.

The board handled the assessment items during the business portion of the meeting. No changes to assessment policy were made; the Paradox Valley request remains pending until the owner appears to verify site conditions.
