Laurel said the training is two days in March, appears to offer continuing-education credit and is already reimbursed by Medicaid payment models in other states. She said the model had been used to reach high-risk people quickly, sometimes within hours of a call.
Council members also discussed safe-storage outreach for veterans. Laurel said veterans have been effective messengers on safe-storage campaigns and noted “we now have options” beyond simple cable gun locks for people who want quicker access while improving storage safety.
