"These are more direction of of where the counties go," an unnamed commissioner said when asked whether the sessions would be personnel evaluations. Kaylee asked specifically whether evaluation discussions would be closed; staff answered that closed sessions would only be used for formal personnel evaluations and that the workshop itself would be an open public meeting.
Multiple department heads asked what materials to bring to the workshops (budget worksheets, contracts, three‑year plans). One department head requested a digital copy of the county’s prior strategic plan to prepare; a staff member said they would try to locate and circulate a copy. Staff and commissioners agreed the intended sequence is: the commissioners meet with MSU Extension, then department heads convene to review the commissioners’ direction, and then individual department one‑on‑one meetings will follow.
