A town official responding during public comment said the public hearings on condemnation of several properties scheduled for that night would be canceled to give property owners additional time to contact the inspections department and discuss restoration plans. The official said staff would take a copy of Creech’s letter and follow up with her.
Mayor Jody M. McLeod also addressed Creech and expressed the council’s support and pride in the family’s efforts; staff committed to follow up about next steps with the inspections department. Creech said restoration work is underway — the barn has been repaired and a bond has been posted — and that her daughter, Cassandra Creech, is coordinating rehabilitation plans while living out of state. Town staff asked the family to meet with inspections to develop a plan for restoration.
