The Park County Commission approved a task order with Staley Engineering on May 6 to advance design work for the Gardner pedestrian‑utility bridge to 30 percent design.
Kristen (county staff) said the task order is part of the Gardner bridge project and “is paid for through our HUD, economic development community project grant.” She added that program managers had confirmed the work was covered by the grant.
A commissioner who solicited clarification from Staley read the firm’s explanation of what “30 percent design” means: “in a preliminary engineering report there are a lot of assumptions made… the easiest way to think of a 30% design is that we are going to have the project roughed in, which will allow us to sharpen our pencils to get a better idea of what the cost of the bridge will be.” That clarification was offered to explain why earlier cost estimates varied.
Commissioner Waltz moved to approve the Staley task order for the Gardner pedestrian utility bridge; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
County staff indicated this task order is grant‑funded and intended to produce a more accurate cost estimate for later design and construction work; no additional county match was identified at the meeting.
