County approves painting, concrete and roofing bids for facilities; roofing contract to start in June

The Boyle County Fiscal Court authorized three facilities contracts on May 13: interior painting, concrete work at the recycling building, and a TPO roof replacement for county facilities.
Mark Gordon, county facilities supervisor, presented the bids. He recommended awarding the painting contract to a smaller local firm using the same Sherwin-Williams Dryfall product other bidders listed; the court approved the painting contract at the bid amount of $13,000. For concrete work at the front of the new recycling building the court accepted Lee's Concrete at $10,302, after a second local bid was substantially higher. Gordon said the concrete will reconfigure the site so county recycling trucks and local haulers can safely operate.
On the largest package, the court approved a thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) roof recommendation from DNI Contracting with a bid of $367,700. Gordon said TPO is the more durable long-term option compared with spray-coating alternatives; the DNI proposal included replacement of some exterior guttering and an installer's workmanship warranty. DNI indicated it could start work in early June and finish by June 30. "I'd like to get the roof on," Gordon told the court; members approved the bid and instructed staff to move funds into the roofing line item.
Votes: the painting and concrete awards passed by unanimous voice votes after motions from court members. The roofing award was approved by motion (mover: Magistrate Gay; second: Magistrate Bogner).
Procurement notes: Gordon said he compared paint products and surface-preparation plans; bidders supplied references and product details. The roofing package included warranties and DNI provided references for school and state maintenance projects.
Next steps: Facilities staff will issue notices to proceed, order materials and coordinate schedules to minimize disruption. County finance staff said they will reallocate funds within the facilities budget to cover the roofing contract.
