District announces several hires and staff transitions, including new assistant superintendent and director of facilities

During April 29 administrative reports, the Mansfield School Committee announced multiple personnel moves and hires.

Superintendent and staff said Julia Greenstein, who had served as interim assistant superintendent of teaching and learning, will leave May 16 and that John Norako (principal of Jordan Jackson School) will serve as interim director of instruction and assessment for the rest of the year. The committee announced a hire for assistant superintendent of teaching and learning: “We now have an assistant superintendent of teaching and learning. Her name is Amy Bridal,” the superintendent said, adding she will begin July 1. The transcript also references Amy Bright as joining from Framingham Public Schools and lists her credentials and background; the district said she will assume the assistant superintendent role on July 1.

The district also announced the hire of Jason (Jay) Davis as director of facilities. Superintendent described Davis’s background in K–12 facilities, capital planning and higher education facilities leadership and said he started the previous week.

For special education, the committee announced that “Dr. Brunage is the new secondary director of special education,” with experience at Barnstable Public Schools and a doctorate in psychology; the transcript uses the name Eric Brunage (Eric Brunage/Doctor Brunage in the record) and said he will start July 1.

The district said the assistant superintendent for finance and operations position has been posted and interviews will begin in May; two committee members volunteered to serve on that search committee.
