School committee approves September 15 preschool start, orients Sept. 11–12

The Mansfield School Committee voted 5–0 to move the preschool start date to Monday, Sept. 15, 2025, with orientation on Sept. 11–12, to give staff extra preparation time for the Robinson relocation; the change will be communicated to families and staff.
Superintendent Teresa Murphy asked the Mansfield School Committee on May 6 to amend the 2025–26 preschool calendar so teachers could have additional time to prepare for a move into Robinson School.
Murphy recommended shifting the preschool start from an earlier September date to a Monday, Sept. 15, with orientation on Thursday–Friday, Sept. 11–12. She said staff requested additional days to complete the transition and settle into the facility. The committee voted unanimously to approve the calendar change.
Committee members confirmed the district will notify staff and families after the vote. Officials said newly enrolled families will receive enrollment information and that the district will address tuition pro‑rata adjustments, saying any tuition charged will be reduced to reflect the later start. The administration plans to communicate details in June during family orientation and through the district newsletter.
The committee recorded the motion, a second and a unanimous vote of 5–0 to adopt the revised preschool calendar.
