The Mansfield School Committee on May 6 reported that a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Municipal Association of Secretaries and Clerks was ratified in executive session and will run from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2028.
Committee members said the contract includes a 3% wage increase in each contract year starting July 1, 2025, changes to holiday and leave language, and procedural clarifications. Under the agreement, employees whose work year comprises the calendar year will receive a paid day of leave on the first scheduled work day after the Dec. 25 holiday; employees hired after July 1, 2025, will receive one floating holiday per school year that must be used during that school year; and the bereavement leave list has been expanded to include aunts and uncles, with the allowable period for that category increased to up to five days in applicable circumstances.
The committee also outlined carryover and sick-leave provisions for affected classifications: school‑year employees may carry over a maximum of one accrued but unused vacation day to the following school year (to be used by the end of that year or forfeited), and a bargaining-unit member at retirement may donate up to five accrued but unused sick days to the sick leave bank. The MOA also includes position‑classification adjustments effective July 1, 2025, and the stated 3% increases in each of the three contract years.
The committee reported the MOA during the open meeting after returning from executive session; no separate public roll-call vote on the MOA was recorded in the open portion of the meeting minutes shared with the committee.
School officials said the agreement was reviewed by bargaining teams and that the contract dates and compensation steps are intended to cover three contract years starting in July 2025. The committee did not provide an estimated total fiscal impact of the wage increases during the report.
Committee members did not debate the terms further in open session and did not announce any follow-up actions tied to the reported ratification.
