Allegany County committee accepts environmental assessment for Agricultural District No. 4 review

The Allegany County Resource Management Committee on May 7 approved a resolution accepting a short environmental assessment form and designating Allegany County as lead agency for the eight-year review and proposed modifications and continuation of Agricultural District No. 4.

The matter was introduced by Allison, a staff member, who said she was requesting “a resolution for Allegany County as lead agency to accept the seeker pertaining to the 8 year review of agricultural district number 4 and its proposed modifications and continuation.” She also said a copy of the short environmental assessment form was attached and that the board would have to approve it at its board meeting.

Committee members moved and seconded the resolution and discussed it briefly as part of the routine review process. A motion to adopt the resolution was made and seconded; the committee voted unanimously in favor with six members present. Committee members noted the action was a standard, recurring procedural step in the district review process.

Committee action was limited to accepting the assessment form and acting as lead agency; the staff member said the full board would later receive the materials for its approval. No substantive changes to the district were adopted at the committee meeting; the resolution advances the SEAF and the eight-year review to the next step.

The committee also approved the minutes of its April 2, 2025, meeting before taking up the agricultural-district item and then adjourned.
