Department of Public Works staff updated the board on multiple buildings-and-grounds capital projects, including interior work at the Conflict Defenders facility, sidewalk work requested by Board of Elections, progress on a new shop design and completion of recent roof and fire‑alarm projects.
Staff reported interior work and HVAC installation are progressing at the Conflict Defenders site and that sidewalks will be installed to connect the parking lot to the Conflict Defenders entrance; the Board of Elections also asked for a direct sidewalk from the lot to its front door and that will be included. Officials said they met with a railroad company about borings needed under the railroad for sewer and storm lines and that the railroad had no objections to the projected alignment. A finalized design and cost estimate for the new shop will be presented to the board on June 4 to seek permission to bid.
Staff also reported that the fire alarm system and a roof replacement project are complete and signed off; final payment for the roof was noted as being processed.
