The Allegany County Ways and Means Committee on May 7 approved creating and filling one temporary position to follow the retirement of the incumbent full-time secretary to the Department of Social Services commissioner.
Mister Horn requested permission to create the position pending board approval and said the annual salary for the role was estimated in the agenda materials as "between 105,000 with benefits." The presenter said funds are available in the 2025 budget. The meeting record shows the county stated the position would be funded approximately 46% from county funds, 5% from state funds and 49% from federal funds.
Committee members described this action as part of the county’s ongoing succession and transition planning. The motion to allow creation and filling of the temporary position was moved, seconded and carried.
