County approves vehicle purchase, hiring and multiple public‑works contracts

Allegany County commissioners approved several administrative items requested by the Department of Public Works, including a truck purchase, a hiring authorization and a contract supplement.
The board authorized purchase of a 2025 Peterbilt 567 from Dimock Group Peterbilt at a bid price of $232,629 to replace a truck declared a total loss. The department said the insurance settlement for the totaled vehicle is $236,165.12 and the dealer could deliver a stocked vehicle within 21 days.
Separately, the board approved filling a Motor Equipment Operator 1 position and any subsequent vacancies resulting from that hire. The department characterized the hire as a standard personnel replacement following a resignation.
The board also approved Supplemental Agreement No. 2 with Bartlett & Judas for additional construction support and inspection services on the Madison Street project. Public Works said additional inspection hours and extra material testing drove the supplemental cost of $84,200; the department said the expense is reimbursable through the state and the agreement is subject to county attorney review.
Other ministerial approvals included updated driveway pipe agreement rates and a report that the county received $12,670 from a surplus auction to date. The board voted on each item by voice and approved them.
