The Somersworth School Board’s policy committee reported five policies for first reading at the May 13 meeting and said revisions bring policies into New Hampshire School Boards Association (NHSBA) format and update titles and related-policy cross-references.
Committee members (Kat Crosby and others) listed the items presented for first reading: DGD (school district credit and procurement cards), DID (inventory and management of assets), EBCA (fire-prevention/emergency response language updates noted due to a date change), and EBCH and EBCH‑E1 (chemical safety and the chemical hygiene plan). The committee said the chemical hygiene policy is a new, required-by-law policy for the district; the committee also circulated a hard-copy exit interview form to supplement an existing online survey.
Committee members told the board the policies were being submitted as first readings only; they will return for second readings at the May 27 board meeting. The committee noted a May 21 policy meeting to continue revisions and said the exit interview form will be hyperlinked to the policy text.
Board members moved and approved reading the five policies by title only; no policy adoptions were finalized at this meeting.
