Grantsville High School held a commencement for the Class of 2025 in Grantsville, Utah, where student officers led the program, classmates were recognized for academic honors and school leaders certified that the candidates met state and district graduation requirements.
The senior class chose a banner bearing the school song as its class gift to hang in the gym, senior class secretary Kate Orton said: "Our class gift will be a banner with the school song to hang up in the gym." The program included brief histories and reflections from student officers, musical performances and recognition of top graduates.
The ceremony named Isabelle Lewis as valedictorian. Student speakers singled out several peers for academic and extracurricular achievements; Ethan Mortensen was introduced during the program as one of the salutatorians and performed a piano piece. Principal Agard declared that "these candidates have met all the requirements of the state of Utah and the Tooele County School District," and, on behalf of the district board, accepted the graduates.
Senior class president Maddie Eggett opened the formal portion of the program and introduced student presenters. Class historian Brooklyn Barrett captured the moment in a brief reflection, noting, "Can you believe we are here?" and reminding classmates of shared memories dating to kindergarten. Vice president Brenna Johnson announced the class's academic honors during her remarks and highlighted students who will continue with postsecondary plans.
Students, faculty and district officials in attendance included Superintendent Mark Ernst, Assistant Superintendent Jeff Hamm and Area Director Angie Gillette, along with board vice president Robert Gowns and board members Emily Sifis, Elizabeth Smith and Valerie Shields. The ceremony concluded with the traditional turning of tassels, the school song and the graduates' recess.
The program did not specify an exact total number of graduates; individual students were named and recognized during the ceremony.
