The Waterford City Council voted unanimously to adopt Resolution 2025-04, approving increases to community center rental fees.
City staff member Miss Krause said the fee increase is intended to cover operating costs that have not been recovered; the current fees had not been raised in 22 years, she said. She noted the facility's finishing work is ongoing — appliances are being installed and a center island remains — and the center still requires final sign-offs from public health, fire and the building inspector before it opens to the public.
During the discussion a councilor asked whether the city would hold an open house when the facility is ready. Staff said an open house and posting of the new fee schedule would be appropriate once inspections are complete and the facility is commissioned.
Motion and vote: A council member moved to adopt Resolution 2025-04 and the motion passed on a recorded voice vote of 5-0.
Why it matters: The fee adjustment will change costs for community groups and private renters who use the new community center; staff said the change is necessary to align fees with operating expenses and recent facility improvements.
What’s next: Staff will bring the finalized fee schedule to the public when the center receives all final approvals and will plan an open house for the community.
