Sabercats youth program asks council for communication support as it seeks volunteers and sponsorships

Representatives of the Sabercats youth sports organization told the City Council the group is rebranding and wants to strengthen local youth athletics by keeping programs and players in Waterford.
Clint Warren, speaking for the organization, said volunteers and board members are involved in multiple sports—football, basketball, baseball, soccer and wrestling—and asked city officials to maintain open lines of communication as the group plans events that could include vendors and local sponsorship banners. Warren described recent fundraising to replace helmets and shoulder pads and said the program has secured about 85 of roughly 100 helmets needed; the group plans additional fundraising to cover other equipment and game‑day enhancements such as a player tunnel and improved staff radios.
Warren said the Sabercats also plan outreach to local businesses to display team colors and encourage community support. The council thanked the group for attending and for their youth sports work; no formal council action was requested or taken.
