Wasco County commissioners authorized the county administrative officer to sign an intergovernmental funding agreement with the City of The Dalles under which the city will assume responsibility for the county’s water costs at Cramer Field.
Tyler Stone requested permission to sign the agreement after the city council had approved a related agreement. County counsel Kristen Campbell confirmed she had reviewed the document and raised no objections on legal grounds.
Commission discussion clarified that the payments were intended to cover watering at the park; the city will supply the funds from its general fund side rather than transient‑room taxes. Commissioners noted the arrangement will prevent the county from covering repeated monthly water bills in its general fund and asked staff to monitor billing and adjust the not‑to‑exceed amount if necessary.
A motion to authorize the Wasco County administrative officer to sign the intergovernmental funding agreement between the City of The Dalles and Wasco County was moved, seconded and approved by unanimous voice vote; the chair voted yes.
County staff said they will continue to monitor invoices and work with the city on the most efficient payment flow.
