Board appoints Benjamin Bergner to Crown Zellerbach Trail advisory committee through 2027

The Columbia County Board of Commissioners voted May 14 to appoint Benjamin Bergner to the Crown Zellerbach (CZ) Trail Advisory Committee; his term will expire Dec. 2027.
Bergner told the board he applied to the committee to help advance trail development and to collaborate with cities and other partners. He cited prior work on kiosk posts and local-history installations for the trail and said he wished to help move stalled projects forward. "I saw this as a good opportunity to participate in something that does affect Scappoose and its residents," he told the board.
Commissioners and members of the public discussed potential partnerships to develop Chapman Landing as a stronger trail hub, kiosk installations, conceptual Highway 30 intersection enhancements and ties to downtown revitalization. One commissioner moved to appoint Bergner; the motion passed unanimously.
Bergner said recreation and parks are his professional interest and that he would remain involved in regional recreation even if his employment changed. The board welcomed him and directed staff to record the appointment.
