The Board of Education voted May 12 to approve two Interlocal Cooperation Act agreements with Educational Service Unit (ESU) 5 for the 2025–26 school year: a technology coordinator arrangement and a partnership for off-campus alternative education placements.
The technology agreement continues a multi-year relationship with ESU 5 that dates to staff retirements in 2019. District staff said ESU 5 provides hardware repair and technical expertise the district lacks in-house; the board was told the ESU’s assistance was important when the district installed cameras and classroom display panels last year.
The second interlocal agreement secures an off-site alternative-education program coordinated by ESU 5. The arrangement covers building, maintenance, cleaning and utilities, and ESU 5 provides sponsorship for the coordinator; in return the district receives 10 student placements at the alternative program.
Board members asked no additional questions and approved both agreements by vote.
Why it matters: the interlocal contracts allow the district to retain technical services and flexible alternative placement options without hiring full-time in-house staff for those roles.
