Baker County commissioners approved two grant agreements Thursday: a one-year Trauma Informed Response Training grant and the biennial Child Abuse Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) grant.
County staff said the trauma-informed grant had been submitted and approved; the agenda item before the board requested formal approval of the grant agreement for a one-year period. The MDT grant supports the county—child-abuse response team and funds the multidisciplinary team meeting and related training; staff said the grant helps fund a staff position (referred to in the meeting as Wade—s position) and training for law enforcement, Department of Human Services staff, teachers and other partners.
Presenting staff said the MDT grant typically arrives on a two-year cycle; because federal budget freezes have made exact amounts uncertain, staff budgeted conservatively in the application and noted the grant does not require a local match this cycle. Commissioners approved a motion to accept and sign the grants; staff will complete final paperwork when the agreements return from the funder.
The motions passed by voice vote.
