Lead commission adopts resolution opposing House Bill 1041 to the State Library

The commission voted to send copies of the resolution to the South Dakota Legislature, the governor and the South Dakota Library Association. Kayla read the text of the proposed resolution during the meeting and moved to adopt it; the motion was seconded and carried without a roll-call tally recorded in the minutes.
During discussion a member of the public asked whether the city’s lobbyists could be asked to advocate against the bill once it is assigned to a committee. Commission members responded that the city would coordinate with the South Dakota Library Association and library advocates who planned to lobby at the Capitol.
