Summary

At the start of the meeting the board approved an amended agenda by voice vote after a motion from Mr. Spivey and a second; the chair called the vote and members answered "aye."
Later in the meeting the board moved to enter closed session. The motion, read aloud and recorded in part, cited North Carolina General Statute 143-318.11(a)(1) and (a)(6) (personnel and privileged communications), a statute to consult with the board’s attorney to preserve attorney–client privilege, and provisions regarding student confidentiality and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) referencing NC General Statute 115C-402. The board voted "aye" on the motion to enter closed session and then recessed into closed session.
After completing closed session the board reconvened in open session, approved a motion to come out of closed session and then approved a motion to adjourn; each of those routine motions passed by voice vote with members answering "aye."
