The Iredell-Statesville Board of Education voted to accept school nutrition bids for the 2025—26 school year, including a distributor extension for US Foods at $3.25 per case.
Angel Helms, the district staff member who presented the bid openings, reminded the board that she had briefed them at the prior meeting and asked for final approval. "We discussed at the last meeting the bid openings that I had done and when they need to be voted on for milk, drinks, ice cream, and then a bid extension for the distributor for US Foods for $3.25 per case," Helms said.
Board member Brian Sloan moved to approve; Cindy Haynes seconded. Chairman Knight called the vote and the motion passed unanimously, 7—0. The board recorded no additional conditions or amendments to the awards during the meeting.
The approval covers the district's procurement for milk, beverages, ice cream and a distributor extension for the coming school year. Staff did not present fiscal detail during the public portion beyond the per-case extension amount for US Foods; budgetary impact will be reflected in the upcoming school-year budget and procurement records.
The board's action completes the formal award step; district nutrition staff will proceed to finalize vendor contracts consistent with the accepted bids and any applicable procurement rules.
