Millard Public Schools showcase honors state champions and national award winners

The showcase, which drew representatives from multiple Millard high schools, featured presentations from teachers and coaches who introduced awardees and described the accomplishments that earned them honors this year. "This is our first ever state championship," Allison Goodman said of Millard North’s varsity Winter Guard, adding it was also "the first one ever for Millard Public Schools." Goodman's group received a standing ovation from the audience.
The event included academic recognitions as well. Millard North students Magna Aduri (senior) and Thanhvi Bhat (freshman) were recognized in the NCWIT awards process and received national honorable-mention distinctions, district presenters said. Julia Kolender, Millard North’s Latin teacher, presented a roster of students who placed on the Nebraska Distinguished Scholars list and at the National Latin Exam; she noted that Dagny Edwards earned summa laude at the college level — a first for Millard North. "They had a rigorous application that involved ... speaking, and it was reading, and it was telling about themselves in Latin," Kolender said.
Athletics and performance earned prominent attention. Coach Krueger described the Millard West girls basketball core as among the state’s most dominant, citing a combined record of 55–2 over two seasons and two state championships. The showcase also included the Millard West and Millard South student councils and Educators Rising participants, who were recognized for leadership awards and state-level placements.
Career and technical student groups reported many state qualifiers and winners. Millard North’s HOSA chapter, which the presenter said is the largest in Nebraska with 80 registered members, sent 45 students to the state leadership conference; dozens placed in events ranging from biomedical debate to phlebotomy and qualified for the international leadership conference in Nashville. Millard West and Millard South HOSA advisors also listed multiple students who finished first, second or third in state competitions and qualified for international rounds.
Presenters emphasized that many of the honors reflect both competitive success and community or volunteer service. Several HOSA students earned Barbara James Service Award bronze medals for volunteer hours at local health institutions; other programs highlighted students who combined competitive accomplishment with community engagement.
The showcase concluded with a formal note from district staff recognizing families and coaches, and staff announced that the meeting would proceed to committee business after the presentations. "Right. That concludes our showcase tonight," the chair said before the agenda turned to a staffing update.
The district did not take votes related to the awards during the showcase; the presentations were ceremonial recognitions and informational updates.
