Elmwood Park council adopts Grove Street stop signs, introduces two new stop‑sign ordinances

Ordinance 25‑09 adding stop signs on Grove Street was adopted on final reading. Ordinances 25‑12 (adding stop signs at Finsack Avenue/Bank Street) and 25‑13 (adding a stop sign at Elmwood Terrace and Glenwood Avenue) were introduced on first reading; each is scheduled for final hearing on June 12, 2025, at 7:00 p.m.
Council President Pellegreen moved and Councilman Fasolo seconded the motions for the stop‑sign ordinances. The roll calls for each item recorded affirmative votes from Councilman Fasolo; Councilmember Colavec; Councilman Sampson; Councilwoman Sheridan; Joycey; and Council President Pellegreen. The ordinance adding stop signs on Grove Street passed on final reading.
During the public comment period, a resident identified as Kenny said a stop sign that used to be on Mulberry Street near the City Hall parking lot was knocked down years ago and never reinstalled, and he urged the borough to restore it. "There used to be a stop sign there many years ago," Kenny said. He also told the council that South Center Street has large potholes and needs repair; the council asked the public works business agent to add the location to the street‑repair list.
The introduced ordinances will return for final hearings on June 12, when residents may comment again.
