Resident raises safety concerns at Ten Eyck Court/Beekman Lane corner; police deploy speed‑monitoring trailer

Leonardo Wolf, a Hillsborough resident, told the township committee during public comment on April 8 that a blind corner where Ten Eyck Court meets Beekman Lane has become hazardous because of increased cut‑through traffic from Amwell Road and parking by delivery vehicles.
“Cars are coming through and they’re entering our development,” Wolf said. He described a curve that obscures visibility when drivers attempt a left turn onto Beekman Lane and said lawn‑service trucks and delivery vehicles often park on the corner and make turning difficult. “It feels like a game of safety roulette,” he said.
Wolf said he had spoken with a police sergeant who confirmed the department’s intent to study speeds on the street and arrange enforcement. Wolf told the committee a speed‑monitoring trailer had been placed but was oriented toward drivers leaving the development rather than toward traffic entering from Amwell Road; he asked that the department consider reorienting the trailer or supplementing the study, and suggested signage or speed cushions.
Deputy Mayor Payne and other committee members cautioned that speed cushions and permanent speed bumps carry tradeoffs, including reduced plow effectiveness and potential vehicle damage claims. Committee members and the police liaison said the department is pursuing a traffic study and other enforcement and engineering options; the chief and police staff have been in contact with the resident and said they will continue follow‑up.
The committee noted that some road safety issues on nearby Amwell Road fall under county jurisdiction and that a county project was under way to realign that corridor and add pedestrian refuge areas.
