Township outlines 2025 paving list and Route 206/206 widening updates; bridge replacement near Hillsborough Point due this fall

Hillsborough Township leaders on April 8 outlined the township’s 2025 road paving program, updates on a state‑led Route 206/Route 2206 widening project and a township pedestrian‑bridge replacement near Hillsborough Point.
Mayor Ciccarelli told residents that the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) forecasts completion of Route 2206 widening phase 2 in late 2026 and that the township expects to live with construction and traffic control issues for the next two summers. “Let’s set our expectations that we’ll be dealing with this ongoing construction and traffic control issues for the next 2 summers,” Ciccarelli said.
The mayor and committee members said NJDOT is preparing resurfacing documents for the older section of Route 206 between Oxford Place and Hamilton Road and that work is expected in 2026, likely coordinated with other projects. The township is planning a face‑to‑face meeting with NJDOT in May and asked residents to contact the township engineering department with specific safety concerns.
Separately, the township is developing design documents to replace the pedestrian bridge by Hillsborough Point, with the bridge replacement currently forecast for completion in fall 2025; officials said the path will likely be unavailable through the summer while work proceeds.
Committee member Lepani (planning and public works liaison) presented the finalized 2025 municipal paving list that is out to bid. Roads listed for repaving this year include Beverly Drive, Kilmer Drive, Fern Way, Gale Court, Briar Way, Scott Drive, Barber Drive, Arlene Court, Matthew Road, Daniel Drive, Walnut Grove Road, Falcon Crest Lane, Falcon Road, and portions of Township Line Road, Dukes Parkway West and Bloomingdale Drive. Auton Road (sidewalk and ADA work) will be milled and paved during spring break, Lepani said.
The committee also noted Township Line Road work will be done in partnership with Montgomery Township and Brown Road near the northern end of town is nearing completion to improve large‑truck access to the highway.
Ending: Officials said detailed timelines and bid results will be posted on the township website and through the township e‑news service; residents with project‑specific safety concerns were directed to contact the engineering department so staff can relay those items to NJDOT.
