The Claiborne County Board of Supervisors on May 5 approved two parks and recreation hires for the 2025 swimming season and heard an operations update.
Parks and recreation director Michelle Lorelle asked the board to hire Marius Hicks as pool manager effective May 12, 2025; a motion to approve was made by Supervisor Oden and seconded by Supervisor Hudson and the motion carried. The board also approved hiring Cortez Hedrick as a pool maintenance worker effective May 12, 2025; that motion carried as well.
Lorelle told the board that youth baseball and T-ball teams have been divided and that parents will be contacted about coaches and practice times this week; she said additional children could still be signed up and the department would accommodate them if space allowed.
No additional funding or staffing changes were approved beyond the hires; the actions were routine personnel approvals for seasonal programming.
