At its Feb. 18 meeting the South Jordan City Council and representatives from the American Public Works Association (APWA) Utah chapter recognized two city public-works employees for statewide awards.
Dan Johnson, West Valley City public-works director and APWA Utah chapter board member, presented awards to Neil Rasmussen and Cameron (Cam) Browning. Johnson said Neil Rasmussen was selected as the APWA Utah Chapter’s 2024 Outstanding Drinking Water System Professional for 20 years of service, improvements in water distribution, contributions to planning and installation of four water tanks in South Jordan, and efforts to keep water loss below the national average. Cam Browning received the APWA Utah Chapter’s 2024 Outstanding Storm Drain Maintenance Professional award in recognition of 25 years with South Jordan City and his leadership and hands-on work maintaining storm infrastructure.
Mayor Dawn Ramsey and council members praised the awardees and invited staff and family forward for photographs. City leaders said the recognition highlights the daily, often behind-the-scenes work of public-works employees that keeps city systems operating.
Ending: The council noted its appreciation for public-works staff and continued to the remainder of its agenda.
