Carlisle readies Railroad Days festival; city working with Warren County Foundation on sponsorship account

City staff and councilors discussed plans for this summer's Railroad Days festival on May 13 and said they are working with long-time organizers and the Warren County Foundation to set up an account for donations, sponsorships and expenses.
The City Manager said Railroad Days is scheduled for Aug. 15–16 and staff is forming a committee with volunteers and past organizers to run the event in future years. The manager said the Warren County Foundation account will allow the city to accept donations and sponsorships without creating additional municipal appropriation steps.
Staff said they are developing a train-themed sponsorship structure and will contact past donors once the account is active. The manager said the township has pledged $500 and noted that the city has a $10,000 special-events line item that has not been fully used in recent years; council discussion included whether to appropriate city funds or move community development funds to support festival programming.
Staff said they will begin accepting vendor registrations and food-truck applications once sponsorships and the account are in place; the school superintendent and other community leaders will serve on the planning committee.
