Valley View Intermediate School replat would consolidate nine parcels into three; city council approves final plat on consent

Carly Sherman, an attorney representing the parties proposing the replat for Valley View Intermediate School, explained Monday night that the plan would consolidate nine existing parcels into three separate parcels: one for the school buildings, one for the Board of Education offices and one for the bus depot.
Sherman said the perimeter of the combined parcels would remain largely the same, with only one minor adjustment: "We're proposing moving that lot line up 20 feet just for that dedicated right of way at the bottom," she said. The lot line in question follows the path of a former McClure Street right-of-way vacated in 1997, and the replat would preserve an access drive that benefits all properties.
To maintain shared access without requiring a costly resurvey, Sherman said the school district and staff discussed creating and recording an access easement that would continue to benefit all parcels "even if ownership of the parcels does change." District operations director Eric Depew and an engineer who prepared the plat answered council questions about configuration and access during the presentation.
The replat was listed as resolution 25-16 on the meeting’s consent agenda and was approved as part of the consent-motion roll call later in the meeting.
