During a Taylorsville City Council briefing session, council members agreed to move the city’s weekly calendar of events earlier in the agenda, heard that the fire department would present a report, and were told a midyear budget public hearing and possible resolution would be considered later in the meeting.
Chair Harker announced the agenda change, saying, “we moved the calendar events up in the agenda to 1.3. So after the mayor's report every week, we'll do the calendar of events kinda first because that's mostly when people are watching.” The council completed a roll call showing Council members Burgess, Cochran, Knudson and Barbieri present; Chair Harker noted one member, identified only as “JT,” was not in the room.
The briefing previewed three items scheduled for the main meeting: a Redevelopment Agency (RDA) meeting to be held first (posted for 06:15 on the agenda), a fire report from Captain Rich, and a midyear budget adjustment package that will begin with a public hearing. Council members were told they could discuss the midyear adjustments and either pass a resolution the same night or hold the item for two weeks for further consideration.
Chair Harker also stated there would be no closed session that evening and formally adjourned the pre-meeting to await the RDA session.
The agenda change is intended to place the city’s calendar of events where more viewers are likely to see it; staff member Kim was noted as preparing visuals to accompany those announcements. No formal motions or votes were recorded in the briefing portion of the transcript.
The council is scheduled to reconvene after the RDA agenda item to take up the fire department report and the budget public hearing.
