County opens bids for Old Town Bridge project; awards Stagecoach and Logan landfill contracts

At the April 29 meeting the county opened sealed bids for the Old Town Bridge Road project, and the commission awarded contracts for Stagecoach Trail bridge procurement and the Logan Landfill public tipping area project after staff recommendations.
Gallatin County staff opened sealed bids for the Old Town Bridge Road project and the commission took action later in the meeting to award two separate construction contracts.
Bids opened: Kathy Thompson of Staley Engineering presented bids for the Old Town Bridge Road project, which includes the large Old Town bridges and an alternate for an additional smaller bridge and road segment. Bidders and (base / alternate) amounts reported at the bid opening were:
- TCA Group Inc. — base bid for both bridges $2,844,476; alternate $636,990. - Slutton/Slend Construction — base bid $3,575,000.79; alternate $799,034.60. - Battle Ridge Builders — base bid $2,488,166; alternate $723,131.50. - Frontier West — base bid $3,653,389; alternate $952,457.
Thompson said the county would check bid completeness and then return with a recommendation and notice of award for the commission’s consent and approval.
Stagecoach Trail: County engineer Levi Ewing reported that the county received a single bid for prefabricated bridge structures for three Stagecoach Trail crossings. The recommendation to the commission was to award the procurement contract to Rinker Materials for $218,625. A commissioner moved to accept the recommendation and award the contract; the motion was seconded and approved.
Logan Landfill public tipping area: Jim Simon, Solid Waste Director, reported seven bids were received and Great West Engineering reviewed them; the Solid Waste Board recommended awarding the project to Bullock Contracting. The commission moved to award the Logan Landfill public tipping area contract to Bullock Contracting for $3,588,703.20; the motion was seconded and the commission approved the award. County leaders said the project will improve user experience and landfill infrastructure.
Staff indicated recommended award packages will be returned for final consent/contract execution following routine verification of bid documentation and bond requirements.
