Weld County proclaims May 2025 Older Americans Month, highlights AAA services

Weld County commissioners on May 5 proclaimed May 2025 as Older Americans Month and heard from Department of Human Services staff about local aging services.
Jamie Ulrich, director of the Weld County Department of Human Services, said the month’s theme, “Flip the Script on Aging,” emphasizes combating stereotypes and supporting older adults’ participation in the community. Ulrich outlined services offered by the Weld County Area Agency on Aging, citing more than 80,000 Friendly Fork meals served and about 38,000 Meals on Wheels deliveries, plus in-home care, caregiver respite, chore services, wellness classes, peer counseling, transportation and legal, dental, vision and hearing support.
Commissioners praised staff and community partners, including Meals on Wheels and the AAA advisory board, and emphasized the importance of programs that help older residents remain independent and connected. The proclamation was signed by all five commissioners; staff and advisory board members were recognized by name during the ceremony.
County officials said these programs are ongoing; no new funding or policy changes were proposed at the meeting.
