The Weld County Board of Commissioners on April 30 read into the record and signed a proclamation designating May 2025 as National Nurses Month in Weld County and recognizing the role of nurses across hospitals, clinics, schools, long-term care facilities and public health.
Mr. May addressed commissioners and attendees, praising nurses’ ‘‘heads, hearts, and hands’’ and quoting Maya Angelou: “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said. People will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel,” to underscore nurses’ impact. Director Chester of the Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment thanked nurses and called public health a safety-net organization that relies on nursing services.
Commissioners Lisa Maxey, Lynette Peppler and others offered remarks thanking nurses for day-to-day care and patience and invited nurses to a group photo.
The proclamation noted county public-health programs by name, including the Nurse-Family Partnership and the HCP program for children and youth with special health-care needs, and encouraged residents to honor nurses’ contributions throughout May.
