GREELEY — The Weld County Board of County Commissioners on April 14 read and signed a proclamation recognizing April 13–19, 2025, as National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week and publicly thanked staff at the Weld County Regional Communications Center.
Deputy Director Laurie Feiler, representing public safety communications staff, accepted the proclamation with remarks about the department’s training, quality assurance and wireless programs and praised line staff for their work answering emergency calls. "Through the dedication and sacrifice of our line level staff, I see small miracles and tremendous acts of courage and service every day," Feiler said.
The proclamation and staff remarks cited the communications center's volume and awards: the proclamation text noted lifesaver and stork awards issued between 2021 and 2024 and described the center’s handling of thousands of emergency contacts. Commissioners individually thanked staff, trainees and professional‑standards personnel and posed for photographs with the team.
Commissioner Scott James, who previously chaired the county 9‑1‑1 authority, remarked on the stressful and high‑impact nature of dispatch work and thanked trainees for stepping into first‑responder roles. Several commissioners recounted personal experiences that underscored the importance of calm, professional call‑taking during emergencies.
