The speaker told the board they had sought a comprehensive financial report and said county officials had failed to provide one: "If I try to get a comprehensive financial report from Bruce, he probably will not give it to me. You don't look at the budget man, we look at the comprehensive annual financial report, because that tells you where the money was actually spent." The speaker also invoked the county's home rule charter and alleged officials were not following it.
The resident criticized a handling error by a Weld County Sheriffs Office DNA specialist and said the county should use a third party to manage complaints about officers: "And the Weld County Sheriff should not be allowed to, manage their own complaints on other fellow officers. A third party needs to be brought in to take care of this." The speaker said complaint forms were being denied if no name was provided, and argued anonymity is sometimes needed to avoid retaliation.
The speaker questioned a recent public works equipment purchase described as "a million dollars for equipment for a brand new tractor," asked whether the county solicited multiple bids, and requested financial disclosures from county officials: "And I also need your financial disclosure. I need statements for all of you afterwards, please. I have paperwork for you. Okay. I would like to talk to you afterwards."
